Nicky Holloway: Beam Me Up!

Almost a year ago, Nicky Holloway was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer after he had cracked a rib during a trip Spain. Had he not had the misfortune to suffer such an injury, he may never have found out that he had cancer…

Known worldwide for his DJ’ing & record producing, Nicky’s also promoted many legendary club nights over the years including Trip at London’s old Astoria, Special Branch & those Doo’s At The Zoo… Along with with Paul Oakenfold, Johnny Walker & Danny Rampling, he was one of the “Ibiza four”, a quartet DJs/friends who famously travelled to the white isle for a holiday in the summer of 1987, hooked up with DJ Alfredo in the club Amnesia & the rest is clubbing history as some would say.

Also an old friend & school buddy of Andy Weekes, Nicky is one of just six DJ’s who’ve played at every Summer Soulstice since 2007 & has supported the event from those early days with his connections to Barnet & many members of the crew.

Now he finds himself in Prague undergoing several weeks of treatment at the Proton Therapy Centre in the Czech capital. Motivated & gladly retaining that dry/wicked sense of humour of his, Nicky has had to set up an online fundraising page via GoFundMe to help him pay for it all. Over £40,000 has already been generously raised, but he’s not quite hit the grand total to see him right through to the finish of his treatment.

Over the first weeks of 2018, he’s been using that old guile of his & getting on the the internet & the socials to maintain the awareness he needs for just a few more donations to get to his target. As an incentive to donators (or his ‘angel’s as he’s been calling them) Nicky is making sure each & every one of them will receive a free digital promo copy of his new Beats Workin’ album ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’, once they’ve kindly given to the cause.

All of us here at Soulstice HQ send love & light to Nicky Holloway & we look forward to June & Summer Soulstice 2018, when we witness yet another one of his classic DJ sets in our Club Tent!
