Already a veteran of the Soulstice cause & with a new album set for release shortly, the lovely Natasha Watts returns to grace our little event…

Post ImageA critically acclaimed British Soul singer/songwriter who released her debut album 2 years ago on the SedSoul label which featured singles such as “Change”, “Go Slow” and “Born A Star”.

Natasha is an inspiration to aspiring soul artists not just here in the UK but all over the world. She is renowned as one of the Britains most exciting and talented Soul artists, who writes all her own material, she has had over thirty soulful house/afrobeat hit records, all of which are huge floor fillers on the club scene around the globe.

A grass roots kinda-girl who loves to interact with her fans, we gave her a call from Soulstice HQ & got chatting…

HQ: You’ve been a massive supporter of Soulstice for a few years now & we love you for it! What’s so good about our event that makes you want to keep coming back?
Natasha: I love the charity aspect of the event, I have a close connection to Cancer & anyway i can help i like to. Plus the event itself is one of the best!!! The people come to have a good time & I have never seen anything other than smiling faces & people dancing!

HQ: You are involved in a fundraising project in your local town of Basingstoke with The Ark Charity to help build a new Cancer centre in Basingstoke, what got you into that in the first place?
Natasha: I lost my mum 8 years ago to the big C , at the time she was unable to get treatment in the local area & its still the same. Patients have to travel over 60/70 miles round trip to get radiotherapy, this is not acceptable, so The  Northants Trust is building a new unit & needs the money to create a state of the art unit to cater for my local area. From a personal level had this been available to my mum, she would not have suffered the way she did, from the point of view that the traveling took it out of her & also put a strain on me.

Video-thumbHQ: How is the project going & apart from donating money, is there anything else people can do to help?
Natasha: Well it’s coming along very well we have just reached the £1million mark… Boom!!! I am always doing something with them, just today I was on BBC Radio Berkshire with Ann Diamond plugging an up & coming show at The Basingstoke Anvil on the 5th March. We are on target to raise another £10,000 for the charity.

HQ: We all know you as an amazing singer/songwriter on the UK soul & soulful house scenes, but what first got you into music & who are your early influences?
Natasha: My family all have a love for music, so from a young age I was played all sort of styles, I have an old soul I think & I just love the classics; Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway & John Holt! I also love me some reggae!

HQ: You have a new album coming soon which all the Soulstice Crew are very excited about, what can we expect?
Natasha: I am so proud of this new project & thanks again to Rob Hardt for allowing me to be creative again. There’s also productions from Richard Earnshaw & Dan Goldman on there! The new album is still very much me but tweaked! Their are dance floor fillers & ballads, plus a wonderful duet with the amazing Omar!  I have been able to write all the songs again & because of this, I am super proud!

HQ: You recorded the album with the SedSoul guys in Germany, what’s it like working with talented producers & musicians like Rob Hardt & Frank Ryle?
Natasha: Rob Hardt gets me, he understands the sounds I want & again he has managed to get it right! My German family mean the world to me!

HQ: In three words, what can we look forward to from you at Summer Soulstice 10?
Natasha: Fun! Smiles!! Dancing!!!
