Incognito Confirmed For SS10
After several weeks of discussions & planning with management, we can finally announce that one the UK’s finest & most enduring acts will be performing live at Summer Soulstice in June!
Incognito was initially formed by Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick & the late Paul ‘Tubbs’ Williams back in 1979 (both were also founding members of UK jazz-funk outfit Light Of The World). The group has to date, released an amazing 24 albums worldwide & have also enjoyed several hit singles in the UK including ‘Always There’ (ft. Jocelyn Brown), ‘Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing’, ‘Everyday’, ‘Jump To My Love’ & ‘Out Of The Storm’. The band also been signed to legendary record labels such as Talkin’ Loud & Dome Records over the years & continue to tour under the guidance of Bluey himself.
Now 36 years on, & with their latest album ‘Amplified Soul’ released last year on Earmusic, the Incognito story remains a uniquely Great British adventure. From Top 10 hits to producing & collaborating with legendary international artists, musicians, multi-instrumentalists & songwriters that includes such luminaries as George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Philip Bailey, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller, Paul Weller, Maxi Priest, Mario Biondi…
Bluey can certainly take his place among the greats of global soul.
Alongside the man himself are regular band members which include some of the best on the current UK scene: Tony Momrelle, Imaani, Maysa Leak, Vanessa Haynes, Natalie Williams & musicians like Matt Cooper (keyboards), Francis Hylton (Bass) & Sid Gauld (Trumpet) to name just a few… Bluey has also explored off-shoot projects, including his group Citrus Sun, formed with legendary jazz guitarist Jim Mullen & the Hope Collective who released the single ‘Give & Let Live’ (Expansion Records) in support of the Asian tsunami victims & the people of Darfur in the Sudan back in 2005.
We are very proud to welcome Bluey & Incognito into the Soulstice family & look forward to seeing them play live on our Main Stage in the evening!
