Imaani

Imaani is one of the UK’s most established soul vocalists, her solo career has been extensive with numerous releases both in the soul and dance music genres alike…

She’s provided hits for acts like the Reel People, Down To The Bone, Copyright & The Layabouts, with tracks like ‘Amazing’, ‘Wizeman’ and the gorgeous ‘Found My Light’.

Her emotive lead vocals grace no less than ten of the celebrated jazz funk band Incognito albums.  Her 2013 single ‘Live Without Love’ found her once again at the No. 1 position in the Traxsource download charts.

Imaani even has pop music kudos for coming 2nd as the UK entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest, losing to Dana International in 1998. This achievement is the highest placing for a UK act for nearly two decades.

Through touring, television and studio work, Imaani has performed with such luminaries as Chaka Khan, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Maceo Parker, Jocelyn Brown, UB40, Leon Ware, Beverley Knight, Jimmy Cliff, Steve Winwood, Carleen Anderson, Betty Wright, Mica Paris and Frank McComb to name but a few. In September 2021 she featured on the new single by Distant People ‘Things You’ll Never See’, co-written by Sulene Fleming.

We welcomed Imaani and The Layabouts to our own soulful gathering, when they performed a late afternoon acoustic P.A. at Summer Soulstice 2014… Still one of the hardest working artists around, Imaani continues to tour as both a solo artist and with the likes of Incognito, in the UK and around the world.
