David Joseph

Founder member of Hi-Tension, David enjoyed well deserved UK chart success with the Brit Funk pioneers on hits like ‘Hi-Tension’ & ‘British Hustle’, both released on Island Records, before he went on to enjoy his own solo successes…

Born out of the early 1970’s outfit Hott Waxx, the band stayed together until the early 1980’s before they decided to go their separate ways.

After the Hi-Tension split, David pursued a solo career which culminated in the smash hit ‘You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me’), the classic electronic/soul anthem from 1982, lifted from his highly succesful ‘Joys Of Life’ LP and featuring a remix by none other than the great Larry Levan.

After further releases on the 4th & Broadway and Mango imprints, a brief re-union with the Hi-Tension guys and a greatest hits album release, David has continued to work hard on the UK club circuit. He made an impromptu first appearance at Summer Soulstice 2010 which put the wheels in motion for him to return the following year, much to the delight of the Soulstice crowd.

In 2016 David released a collaboration single with reggae artist BlackIE called ‘Favorite Kind of Lie’ which to date, has had well over a million plays on Spotify.
