Chris Ballin

From the tender age of eight, Chris has been on a musical journey that has seen him work with some artist heavyweights.

Born in Nottingham, England, Chris was a keen and active drummer to start and by the age of 10, had joined his first family group. His mum played church organ and his dad was a keen social singer.

By his mid teens Chris was centre stage as lead vocalist in a local band and his vocal talents began to shine around the Nottingham club circuit.

Driven to gain more success, he eventually moved to London to pursue his career and was quickly snapped up to tour with many established European artists and bands to work as a featured lead vocalist as well as on backing vocals.

Chris has worked with Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul), Candy Dulfer, Kim Wilde and Maxi Priest to name a few. His strong song writing and many collaborations with many of Europe’s most gifted writers and producers, culminated in the creation of his debut album ‘Do It Right’ in 1996. This was released to critical acclaim and is widely regarded as one of the finest recordings ever created by a UK soul artist.

Chris later went on to do lead vocals with Incognito in 1997 on two of their albums ‘Beneath The Surface’ and ‘Inner Shade’ and in 2015 released the single ‘Endlessly’ on Ralph Tee‘s Expansion label.

He’s now developed an extensive catalogue of ballads and R&B tracks and working on a new album. Chris has performed at both our virtual event in June 2021 and followed this up in 2022 with his Main Stage performance on Barnet’s field of dreams!
