Summer Soulstice

Earnshaw Returns
After a year’s hiatus from our little doo; musician, producer, DJ, remixer, songwriter, label owner & all round good guy Richard Earnshaw heads back to Summer Soulstice this June…
As well as his own labels & being co-founder of the iCulture brand, Richard’s various credits & appearances include releases & remixes on esteemed imprints such as Soulfuric, Defected, Peppermint Jam, Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Sony & many more spanning over the past 20 years & counting. As a result of his consistent delivery of quality productions, remixes & solid live performances, he has positioned himself amongst some of the most respected producer/DJ’s in the world.
Richard began his classical training at a very young age & eventually went on to complete formal training with a music degree from the University of London; where the freedom of expression he found in jazz, funk & soul beckoned him to leave behind the manuscript & metronome…
In 1998, Earnshaw & friend Mark Horwood teamed up with Piers Penfold (aka Sir Piers) to create The Fusion Groove Orchestra. Richard will tell you that the collaborative efforts inherent in the Fusion’s work – with output like ‘The Dream’ featuring Simon Green; their remix of Lynden David Hall‘s ‘Forgive Me’; & Boris D’Lugosch ft. Roisin Murphy‘s ‘Never Enough’ – is what helped mould & shape his own soulful vibe. After his debut release ‘People Are People’ on Soulfuric Deep in 2002 & a string of high profile productions/remixes, 2003 saw Richard & his friend & fellow musician Dan Jones set up the first of their 3 record labels, Duffnote, with One51 following in 2004 & Guess Records a year later.
Alongside Mark Bamford, Richard is also one half of Spiritchaser who together have consistently released top quality, influential deep house tracks for the past 20 years. Richard’s own debut solo album ‘In Time’ released in 2010 is to this day, regularly supported on radio & dancefloors all over the world & features an all star line up including collaborations with Jocelyn Brown, Ursula Rucker, Roy Ayers, Carleen Anderson & Kenny Thomas.
We feel extremely fortunate to have someone of Richard’s musical stature supporting us, but that is what he’s done for the past six years & we’re extremely excited to have him back in the Club Tent @ Summer Soulstice for another one of his sublime DJ sets. For Richard, music is his passion & his joy to which he says “it’s great to think that by creating & performing music, people can forget about the negative things in life & embrace the positives. Even if only for a short time.”
And who are we to argue.
