Rob James

A respected soul DJ and radio presenter, Rob celebrates over 40 years in the music business that he so loves…

From a career that started back 1975, Rob learned the trade the hard way DJ’ing at socials, weddings, parties and soon became a well known mobile DJ in his home town of Luton.

In 1983 he got a break in the local club scene and became the resident at Shades Nightclub in the town. This was followed by a six year stint at Reflections in nearby Hitchin, acknowledged by Blues & Soul magazine, as one of the best soul nightclubs outside of London!

From 1989 onwards Rob played upfront soul and funk at a number of venues in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and began working on Chiltern Radio with (Brother) Louie Martin. Together they also ran a successful night called Soul Academy back in Luton .

In more recent years Rob could be heard over the airwaves on the likes of Secklow Sounds in Milton Keynes and London’s Delite Radio. His popular show ‘Soul Steppin’ had already gaining thousands of listeners from around the globe before he began presenting it every Friday from 6am to 8 am, on Solar Radio.

Rob made his debut on the decks at Summer Soulstice in 2018 and is definitely one to catch in the Connoisseurs arena.
