Aitch B

Part of the world famous Soul II Soul collective, Aitch is a well known and respected DJ of the past three decades…

He became one of the ‘Original Funki Dreds’ after meeting Jazzie B back in 1983. Aitch’s work ethic, knowledge and love of music helped to make him an integral member of Soul II Soul and their legendary sound system.

From blues parties and the warehouse scene, to the birth of London’s ‘rare groove’ era and those ground breaking Sunday nights at the Africa Centre and legendary Friday nights at The Fridge in Brixton, Aitch was there on the cutting edge, playing tunes that really mattered.

It all established him as a well known and respected figure helping to nurture London’s expanding club scene.  As Soul II Soul (the band) stormed into the national charts and began to spread their happy face, thumping bass for a loving race philosophy world-wide, Aitch employed his lyrical writing abilities and penned the lyrics for one of their biggest hits ‘Get A Life’ as well as many other tracks on their albums. His other music projects also included working with artists such as James Brown and The Jones Girls.

Aitch is now also one of the principle organisers and DJs of ‘We Love Soul’ (www.welovesoul.com), one of London’s top soul nights out for the over 30’s crowd and an event that regularly plays host to top UK and US soul artists performing live alongside an array of DJs.

He hosts regular radio shows on various stations under the moniker of Soul360 playing a mixture of soul, funk, disco, boogie and rare grooves through to nu classic soul, R&B, house and reggae.

Having made his DJ’ing debut at Summer Soulstice in 2018, we are honoured to have a man of Aitch’s standing among us. His passion for his music and desire to share it as a DJ ensures an enthusiastic response from all his audiences and it’s no exception when he spins at our little annual soul festival.
