Dancing In The Kerber Of Life

Local award winning cartoonist & doodle genius Neil Kerber, has been a long-time supporter of Soulstice & has once again come up with some warm & weird figures to adorn our event this year!

Best known for his entertaining contributions to great British institutions such as Private Eye, The Evening Standard, The Independent & Vogue, his ‘Supermodel’ cartoon strip is well established in the Eye, while his Coolfellas features in GQ Magazine. He created the character Polly Bean which took the fashion world by storm & along with his buddy & partner David Black, has dreamed up & delivered some incredible cartoons for The Daily Mirror under their Kerber & Black moniker.

Neil has sold originals of his cartoons to the likes of Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Charles Saatchi as well collectors & fans around the globe.

Once again he has donated his time & expertise to us & come up with another incredible set of ‘dancers’, this time bearing the 2017 ‘Soul On A Summer’s Day’ logos that features on our new merchandise.

A long time resident of Barnet, Kerber first  journeyed down to the OE’s fields for the second Summer Soulstice, along with his family & friends. He was bowled over by the whole day & in his own words, “The music was superb (took me back!)… & the vibe was incredible! I didn’t know Andy Weekes, but the warmth around the place for a good friend was really brilliant.”

Having sadly lost his own mum to cancer in 2007, he’s since been a friend of the Soulstice Crew & to our cause. He came up with the incredible ‘Soul Boy, Soul Girl’ cartoon logo back in 2009 &  all our ‘animated dancing figures’ which feature on many of our banners, plus past event programmes & flyers. A mostly modest man (except when it comes to talking about his beloved Spurs) Mr Kerber donates much of his original artwork for charity auctions, while other cancer charities have also benefitted from his doodlings.

He also runs cartoon courses for kids & grown ups alike as well as taking his visual humour to events, conferences & summits. Neil Kerber… Soul man with skills!
