Currently causing a stir on both domestic & international soul/jazz circles, Daisy Hicks is all set to appear on our main stage in June…

English-born & Australian-raised, music has always been a part of Daisy’s life. Her father was legendary drummer Tony Hicks who was part of jazz-rock trio Back Door & who worked with the likes of Georgie Fame & Lulu. Daisy is also related to legendary rock & blues artist Chris Rea.

Reviews in the likes of Marie Claire magazine in the UK have quoted Daisy as “a remarkable singer & gifted songwriter whose music is laced with eclectic influences ranging from silky jazz, soulful country to soaring ballads.” Classically trained, Daisy began her music career as a jazz singer, touring Australia & the US. When back in Sydney, she was entertaining thousands of basketball fans at the Sydney Kings‘ games & captivating audiences at some of the leading music venues in the Australian capital while she was just 14 years of age.

By the time she was 19, Daisy deviated from tradition & an aspiring jazz career to expand her horizons & gain broader influences overseas. Landing in London, she was quickly signed by Concept Music. Her debut album ‘Mistress’ broke into the UK, Europe & Japan & two more albums have followed in recent years. Daisy has also shared the stage with the likes of Gabrielle, Boy George, Gloria Gaynor, Womack and Womack & has played countless festivals & live performances around the world!

Now Daisy has gone back to her musical roots & is currently writing/co-producing her 4th studio album. The first single ‘French Café‘ has received plenty of props from UK soul, funk & jazz stations, while her follow-up ‘I Chose You’ has been getting even healthier support & airplay, with the release including hot remixes from Sir Piers & Ruff Diamond. Both these singles have broken into the UK Soul Charts.

Her next single ‘Upside‘ comes with another remix offering from Piers & Ruff Diamond, with the latter delivering a surprising reggae inspired remix that have been widely supported by soul & jazz radio/DJ’s everywhere. All 3 singles peaked at the top spot on Delite Radio’s Top 10.

We look forward to welcoming Daisy to the Summer Soulstice fold!
