A Letter To The Better…

This year’s massive fundraising event was another great success as we passed the £100,000 mark for monies given to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care, our main charity beneficiary since 2007.

It’s always the Crew’s aim to raise as much as possible (with a SMILE!) as we grow in numbers each year & still continue to put on a high quality annual music event. Summer Soulstice has also been fortunate enough to make smaller donations to other local organisations close to our cause. These include Scout groups in Barnet, whose help in past clear-ups has been essential & to the St Mary’s 1000+ Appeal – the historic parish church in East Barnet, where Andy’s memorial took place & who supported our event in it’s early days.

However, courtesy of the generosity of everyone who came & supported SS7, 2013 saw the largest amount of money raised for Cherry Lodge to help continue their fine work. A cheque was recently handed over to them @ our annual Big Payback get together @ The Black Horse Tavern with some 400 people in attendance.

One of the team from the Barnet based charity who received the cheque from us that day, was Margaret Clark. A few days later we received a very nice letter from her which we @ Soulstice HQ, felt compelled to share…

“I have been speechless since geting the cheque for £25,000 & walked around for a couple of days wondering whether the hot weather had caused certain hallucinations, namely that Cherry Lodge Cancer Care was GIVEN an enormous cheque for an enormous amount by the organisers of Summer Soulstice!”

“Thank you all again & again & again. It is actually quite difficult to know what to say so all I can say is, long may Summer Soulstice continue to bring pleasure to so many people & long may I be fit enough to come & help clear up the morning after.”

 

Cherry Lodge recently announced they will be dedicating a treatment room @ their Union Street Information & Support Centre to the memory of Andy Weekes, which of course we will keep everyone posted about. In the meantime, we couldn’t be more happy to help with such a great cause…
