In 2006 a dear friend & one of Barnet’s favourite sons, passed away from cancer in the USA where he had lived for many years. As a tribute to him & his passion of soul music, his family & close friends organised a special get-together for the local community & the extended soul family @ a venue close to his heart…

About-Us-ImageAfter the first Summer Soulstice was held in 2007 at Barnet Elizabethans RFC (pictured), the party moved a couple of miles down the road to Gypsy Corner & the Old Elizabethans Memorial Playing Fields, a place that Andy Weekes enjoyed & gave hours of pleasure playing cricket, football & rugby during the 1980’s. And all of it to the souOriginal Sol Logo TILTndtrack of his life – classic soul.

Shift forward to now…

After a decade, this special Soul Family All-Dayer has not just become a firm favourite on the soul music event calendar, but draws people from near & far. Our own extended Soulstice family now travels from all over the UK each year to enjoy “soul on a Summer’s day” & we have regular visitors from France, Germany & Sweden. Even Andy’s own family have visited from California, including his son Braedon.

With this continued support & all the valued help from our crew members, volunteers, DJ’s, artists, as well as our hosts Old Elizabethans, we continue to swell the coffers of our chosen charity Cherry Lodge Cancer Care & to other local worthy causes, which passed the £220,000 mark in 2016.
